The Gate

This one is worth sharing, I think. Mr. B asked me to check out his pool gate to see what could be done. It was old, basic, standing propped in place with no hinges attached. He wanted to maintain the skeleton frame, as his wife liked the pattern, but it needed more, besides actual hinges! She wanted something that would blend well with their back yard, work properly, and have planters attached at the bottom. We had to keep a budget, so things couldn’t get crazy, but I really wanted to give them something that would set off the entrance into their back yard haven.

We took the skeleton, added top sections, a few leaves, a few scrolls, and got creative with the bottom planters, adding nylon caster wheels to support the weight as it rolled inward. With a soft sheen black finish, and heavy duty hinges, Their portal to the pool turned into a focal point, added to the overall look, and they both were happy. It was the only job I did that summer that generated a gift card in the mail with a note of thanks at how pleased they were with the outcome. It was a pleasure to see this come together.
